Vinted Members Express Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its size classifications for female and kids' apparel but did not contact all users about the change.
Digital Channels Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present an altered size classification versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Measurement Approach Modifications
Before the change, the sizing featured numerical and alphabetical indicators, like S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Experiences
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as size 20–22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
Another shopper, located in England, said she had been left angered due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Marketplace Information
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
